Tangy Green Beans with Bacon

  • 6 cups cut green beans, fresh or frozen
  • 2 tablespoons bacon, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 3 medium onions, sliced
  • 4 medium tomatoes, sliced, or 2 (14.5 ounces each) cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup hot water
  • dash red pepper





Fry bacon crisp; add remaining ingredients. Simmer for 1 hour. Add water as needed.
Serves 6.
