Sausage Gravy Recipe
Use your favorite pork sausage in this easy and tasty recipe for sausage gravy. I like Jimmy Dean brand, but others will work as well. Serve this classic sausage gravy over freshly baked biscuits.
Prep Time: 10 minutesCook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 pound pork sausage, regular or with sage
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups light cream or half-and-half
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
In a large skillet fry the sausage, breaking it up as it cooks. Remove with a slotted spoon. Add the flour to the drippings left in the skillet and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Add 1 cup of the cream and cook, stirring, until thickened. Add the sausage back to the mixture along with more cream, enough to make a good gravy consistancy. Taste and add salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer. Serve hot over freshly baked split biscuits or grits.
Serves 6 to 8.
