Buckeyes

Buckeyes are made with a coating of chocolate chips. Dip the peanut butter candy in melted chocolate, but leave the tops of the candy uncovered so they will look like the nuts of a buckeye tree. The candies don't take long to prepare, but they have to chill thoroughly before dipping, so plan ahead.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 sticks (8 ounces) margarine, room temperature
  • 1 jar (18 ounces) creamy peanut butter
  • 1 pound powdered sugar
  • 1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons shortening

    Instructions:

Combine the margarine, peanut butter, and powdered sugar, mixing until smooth. Shape into 1-inch balls and refregerate until thoroughly chilled.

When the peanut butter balls are chilled, melt chocolate chips with the shortening. dip balls in the chocolate, leaving tops uncovered so they resemble buckeye nuts.
