Pineapple-Date Bread
This quick bread is loaded with flavor, with dates, pineapple, and chopped walnuts. Serve this bread at your morning get-together or make it for a holiday treat. Serve with a flavored butter or cream cheese spread.

Ingredients:
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 can (8 ounces) crushed pineapple
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon soda
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine egg, milk, shortening, pineapple, nuts, and dates. Sift together dry ingredients; add to the first mixture. Stir just to moisten. Transfer to a greased and floured 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for about 50 to 60 minutes, or until a wooden pick or cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
