Ice Cream Porcupine Balls

Here's a neat treat for a kids' party. Scoop large balls of ice cream onto a wax paper-lined baking sheet; return to the freezer to harden. Insert salted peanuts into the ice cream balls so they resemble porcupines. Serve in dessert dishes with chocolate sauce.

Chocolate Sauce

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

In a small saucepan heat chocolate chips with whipping cream over low heat, stirring constantly. Continue to cook until chocolate is melted and sauce is smooth. Stir in vanilla. Keep chocolate sauce refrigerated. Keeps for 1 to 2 weeks.
