Hamburger Corn Pone Pie
Use a Jiffy mix or your own favorite cornbread batter to top this hamburger pie recipe.
Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 35 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup tomatoes
- 1 cup drained kidney beans
- 1 cup corn bread batter
Instructions:
In a large skillet, brown ground beef and onion in the oil; add seasoning and tomatoes. Cover and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes. Add kidney beans. Pour meat mixture into a greased 1-quart baking dish. Top with corn bread batter, spreading carefully over meat mixture with a wet knife. Bake at 425° for 20 minutes.
Serve hamburger pie with a tossed green salad.
