Old-Fashioned Cream Pie

This old-fashioned sugar cream pie is topped with a fluffy whipped cream topping.

Prep Time: 12 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 27 minutes

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 egg whites, slightly beaten
  • 1 baked pastry shell, 9-inch
  • 1 cups heavy cream whipped with 1/4 cup powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla



    Instructions:

    Heat 2 cups of cream in top of double boiler. Mix together the granulated sugar, flour, and salt. Pour hot cream over mixture, stirring well. Return to the double boiler and cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, fold in egg whites, pour into pastry shell, and bake at 400° for 15 minutes. Chill and cover with the whipped cream topping.
