Spicy Barbecue Sauce

This is a delicious homemade barbecue sauce, great to serve with your favorite pulled pork or barbecued chicken recipe, or use it to brush on ribs or chops when baking or grilling.

Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 1 Minute
Total Time: 6 minutes

  • 3/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons powdered mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or more, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, mashed



    Instructions:

    In a saucepan combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil; boil for 1 minute. Store tightly covered in refrigerator. Use as a sauce for meat of chicken. Keep for a few weeks in the refrigerator or freeze in smaller portions for a few months.

    Makes about 2 cups.
