Date Appetizer Recipe

This easy, tasty appetizer from Dena is as simple as it gets, and it will be a big hit at parties and get-togethers.

Date Wraps

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound bacon slices, cut in half crosswise
  • 1 bag whole almonds
  • 1 to 2 boxes whole, pitted dates

    Instructions:

Stuff each date with 1 almond then wrap with half a bacon slice. Place on jelly roll pan (with sides) - NOT BAKING SHEET! Broil for about 5 minutes, turn, then broil for about 4 more minutes. Watch closely so they don't burn. Drain on paper towels. Serv slightly warm or at room temp.
These are delicious, but rather high in fat. A real splurge kind of treat!

    Dena's note:
This recipe is affectionately known as "Daddy's a Hero" at our house. The first time I made it, the oven caught on fire (because I used a cookie sheet instead of a jelly roll pan). As my husband was putting the fire out, our 3yr old was looking on and pronounced Dad a hero.
Thanks to Dena Sandwick for sharing!
