Gillie Whoopers

Serving Size : 12 Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup flour -- sifted
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1 package miniature marshmallows

FROSTING: Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 squares baking chocolate
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

    Instructions:



    Combine flour, baking powder, salt, cocoa, and sugar. Blend in shortening, eggs, and teaspoon vanilla. Add walnuts. Spread in greased baking pan and bake at 350^ for 20 minutes. Take from oven; sprinkle miniature marshmallows over the top, keeping away from sides of pan. Put back into oven for 3 minutes.
    For the frosting, combine brown sugar, water, chocolate. Boil for 3 minutes; take from burner and add butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar (enough to make smooth icing). Spread over marshmallows and let cool. Cut in squares.
